The Lebanese Army Arrests a Suspect Wanted for Opening Fire on an Army Patrol, Resulting in the Martyrdom of Three Soldiers, and Carries Out Additional Security Measures

The Lebanese Army Command – Directorate of Orientation issued the following statement:
An Army unit conducted raids on the residences of wanted individuals and arrested Lebanese citizen (H.M.) in Hour Taala – Baalbek for opening fire, along with others, on an Army patrol on 16 February 2023, resulting in the martyrdom of three soldiers. Military ammunition, a quantity of drugs, and counterfeit cash were seized in his possession.
The Army also arrested the citizens (M.M.), (Q.A.), and (H.AA.) in Hour Taala – Baalbek for driving illegal vehicles. A military pistol and a quantity of drugs were found in their possession.
In addition, the Syrian (Y.M.) was arrested in Al Shraouneh – Baalbek for illegally entering and remaining in Lebanese territory without valid legal documents. Weapons, military ammunition, a quantity of drugs, and raw materials used in the manufacture of drugs were seized from his possession.
The seized items were handed over, and the investigations were initiated with the arrestees under the supervision of the competent judicial authorities.
